Japanese Demon "ONI" Skull. Beginning with a Real Male Human Skull I decided to go with another "Kapala" with a theme I've often thought about. Of course everything has been enhanced with various grades of Real Silver and Sterling Silver. The eyes themselves are Glass used for Taxidermy with a nice and creepy rust color. The horns are the tips of Real & Legal Ivory Hippo Tusks and the "Oni" on top is a Real Bone Carving I picked up for this one. The material used in between from the silver base to skull base is a piece of Real Ibex Horn and the "collars" along with the simulated jaw muscles are Real Bone Gill Covers from a Giant Carp which seemed appropriate. There is a nice Silver plated bowl inside the top so this one can be used for your jewelry or what have you. The bowl measures 2&1/2 inches wide by 4&1/2 inches long and is about 1&1/2 inches at the deepest point. The large Japanese symbols or "Kanji" around the top stand for Hate, Power/Strength, Death and Blood. In the past I was tempted to add some color to one of my projects but always was afraid it might cheapen the piece but after much contemplation I decided to add some Red Ochre "highlights" to this and I'm pretty glad I did as it really enhances the demonic look. After everything was finished on the piece and permanently assembled I added multiple coats of clear finish similar to whats used for bronze artwork so this will last forever. (Sold)
